You’ll also get a special gift. This fall also marks the release of The Good Neighbor – the first full-length biography of Fred Rogers, written by Maxwell King. You may already know that Mr. Rogers’ mum knit all of his sweaters – so when the good folks at Abrams realized the Ultimate Sweater Book would be published in the same season as The Good Neighbor, we all hatched a plot.

If you order a signed copy of The Ultimate Sweater Book here, you’ll immediately receive the e-book for “The Good Neighbor Cardigan” – a new, Mr. Rogers-inspired zippered cardigan for men and women. After successful purchase, the PDF will appear in the “downloads” section of your account.

The fourth book in my sweater series, the Ultimate Sweater Book gives knitters the tools they need to make any kind of sweater they like – either drafted from scratch, or adapted from an existing pattern! The book is organized like this:

  • Part 1: The Basics. I start off with sweater basics, measurements and ease; then, I devote a whole chapter to teaching you how to draft your own patterns from scratch – whether you’re knitting a drop shoulder sweater, a raglan, a yoke, or a set-in sleeve. Not interested in writing your own pattern? That’s okay, I’ve included 12-size, 3-gauge cardigan and pullover patterns for each of the construction styles.
  • Part 2: Adjustments. This section goes into the nitty-gritty of adjusting traditional patterns: From choosing a size, to changing the torso, sleeves, or neck shaping.
  • Part 3: Embellishments. Want to play around with yarn substitution, edge trimmings and shaping, pockets, neckline fun, and more? This section is for you.
  • Part 4: Garments. It’s hard to take a bunch of text and turn it into sweater ideas, so I’ve gotten you started with 8 gorgeous designs, photographed in stunning midcoast Maine by the talented Burcu Avsar.

All in all, there are 20 garments, 28 patterns, and a ton of information to help every aspect of your sweater knitting in this 192-page book.

I’ll sign and personalize every pre-ordered book, so be sure to let me know the recipient’s name in the “Notes” section of your order.
